MSgt. Nicholas C. Kurtz
Video Skills Instructor, Defense Information School (DINFOS)

MSgt. Nicholas Kurtz has served as a video skills instructor at DINFOS since July, 2015. He joined the Air Force in March of 2001, and graduated from the Basic Broadcasters Course at Ft. Meade, Md. in August, 2001.

Sergeant Kurtz’ first day on the job as a broadcast journalist was on September 11, 2001. Newly arrived at his first duty station at Aviano Air Base, Italy, then Airman Basic Kurtz was responsible for delivering live radio updates regarding base closures and emergency announcements to the local community.

In the years since then, he has served in combat campaigns in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom, and has covered stories in more than a dozen countries in Europe and Asia.  He is the winner of more than a dozen Air Force Media Contest awards, and a two-time recipient of the DoD’s Thomas Jefferson Award for broadcast excellence, including the 2007 DoD Broadcast Journalist of the Year. Sergeant Kurtz has also garnered several first place honors in the Communicator and Telly civilian media awards programs.

He is a 2009 graduate of the advanced Military Motion Media program at Syracuse University, and holds a CCAF degree in Public Affairs.
