Jini Ryan
Associate Director of the Office of Multimedia, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

As the associate director of the Office of Multimedia and an executive video producer, Jini Ryan shoots, produces and edits a variety of video products for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, from public service announcements and feature stories to training modules and live events broadcast on the agency’s internal EPAtv network. Her job is to take agency messages and simplify them for video and graphics content that can be shared on a variety of platforms like social media, TV, radio and video kiosks.

Prior to joining EPA, Jini served as the director of Soldiers Radio Television under the Soldiers Media Center, which later became part of the Defense Media Activity. She served as the executive producer for Army Newswatch, the Army’s flagship newscast, which featured stories about soldiers, civilians and their families and was broadcast through AFN, AFRTS and approximately 1,000 local cable access stations around the United States. When she first began working at SRTV, Jini was a contractor, and served as a correspondent for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, followed by a stint with the Army Environmental Command.

Born in Minneapolis, Minn., her parents moved the family to Chennai in southern India. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature, with a minor in Journalism, from Stella Maris College, Chennai, India in 1997 and her Masters of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University, Chicago, IL in 1999. She began her journalism career at NewsChannel 8 in the fall of 1999 and transitioned to federal government video storytelling in 2004.
