Barrinton Baynes
Multimedia Project Manager, Georgetown University

Barrinton Baynes is a Multimedia Project Manager and VR Specialist with the Gelardin New Media Center at Georgetown University. He is an alumnus of Temple University’s School of Media and Communication and holds a B.A. in Film and Media Arts. His expertise is video production process and planning, and over the last 4 years has consulted on many of the MOOCs produced by Georgetown University. More recently, for the last 2 years he’s invested countless hours in researching and teaching 360 immersive video production to faculty and students, and works with a staff of VR specialists to offer the Georgetown University community demos of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift VR experiences.

Since helping to expose Georgetown’s community to virtual reality many faculty have reached out to Barrinton to devise ways in which immersive technology could be implemented in their teaching. These courses range from business, public relations, environmental science, nursing, genomics, and many others. Barrinton’s goal in the near future is to help prepare students to go beyond creating basic virtual experiences and have them create immersive experiences with increased elements of interactivity.
