KEYNOTE: Putting "Pretty" Back into Government Video: Barack Obama, Transparency, and the New Public Aesthetic

Government-produced media immediately conjures to mind images of scratchy educational videos—generic and lifeless. This hasn’t always been the case as government-made film was once highly lauded both in terms of education and innovation, often winning awards alongside its commercial competition. Find out what happened and how the current administration has made use of existing and new resources within the Federal Government. How has social media been utilized to bring greatness back to government film production? The White House's embracing of new technologies to create and distribute video has been praised as innovative and effective, but more than anything it has elevated the status of Government-produced media in the eyes of ordinary Americans.
